About

I build backend systems where correctness is not optional.

I am a software engineer at Innowise in Warsaw, working for a European bank that operates across three countries. I build its governmental order processing platform, and I led the migration of a high-value forex payment flow off a legacy enterprise service bus. Most of my work lives in the layer between systems, where messages get lost, formats disagree and every failure has a cost. On the frontend, I work on the React and TypeScript application our operators use to handle arrest cases, and I owned the epic to build a micro-frontend that shows customer service staff a customer's arrest orders inside the bank's shared platform. I build features from the API all the way to the screen.

Before that, I spent a year and a half at Mereb Tech in Addis Ababa on a payments platform handling more than 2 million transactions a day for a European client. I grew up in Ethiopia and moved to Poland, where I work full time and finish a BEng in Computer Science at Akademia WSB. Doing both has made me deliberate about time: I would rather build one thing properly than ten things halfway.

How I work

Understand the system underneath

I do not stop at using a tool. I go the extra mile to understand how it works under the hood and how that behavior affects the business flow it supports.

Own it end to end

I take a service from domain design through Kubernetes deployment and production support. Being the one who gets the production issue is the best teacher of how to design the next system.

Write it down

I keep written notes on design decisions, trade-offs and production incidents. Writing a decision down forces me to state the trade-off precisely, and months later it tells me why the system is built the way it is.
